OmniGraffle Stencil for FFBD

Ffbd-1After looking around the Internet for an OmniGraffle stencil for creating Functional Flow Block Diagrams (FFBD) without any luck I decided to just create my own, which you can download from here. This stencil contains all the major components of a Functional Flow Block Diagram which is used to outline the control of flow between functions within a functional architecture. FFBD are extremely helpful to try and describe the behavior of a system while being solution agnostic.

Web Graph Diagram API

Jsviz031SvgFor a current project I need to be able to display a graph of objects on a web page, which is essentially a set of nodes and lines between these nodes. After looking around the Internet I came across JSVis which is a JavaScript library that allows you do exactly what I wanted and even has AJAX support to dynamically create the graph.

New Wind Turbine

LoopwingTwo of the biggest problems with current solutions to wind powered electricity generators is the noise and size of the wind turbines. This has meant that until now all the wind turbines have been located in remote areas where the noise and size are not an issue. However, a new wind turbine design is claiming to have designed a new wind turbine is smaller and creates less noise through a radically different blade design.

I am for the use of alternative energy creation systems as we can not continue using fossil fuels at the current rate for my longer. Hopefully this is one more step towards a better way of generating energy into the future.
