Innovative Laptop Cases

Images PrdtekstyltekmodbeautyRadtech has released a new laptop case called tekmod. What makes these cases different to most others is their ability to allow you to use your laptop while staying inside the case. But that is not all, there is a built-in riser to allow air to flow around the laptop to keep it cool and you also still have access to all your ports at the back of the laptop. Not wanting to use the laptop in the bag, well you can also access like normal top loading bags. Have a look through the photos at the site as it comes in a variety of colours. Would love something like this for my 17“ powerbook hint hint :)

Images Prdmactruckbeauty2On the same site they also make a aluminium case for mac laptops, which provide the most protection I have seen in any laptop designed case. This sturdy case is called the MacTruck and would also look wonderful wrapped around my 17” Apple Powerbook.

CTL Architecture Report

Another one of my DSTO reports has finally been published, Coalition Theatre Logistics Architecture Overview report. This is a technical report that outlines the architecture that was developed in 2003 - 2004 to support the Coalition Theatre Logistics Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (CTL-ACTD). This report was developed in association with Dick Creps (Lockheed Martin Mission Systems, USA) and various others involved in CTL-ACTD. The architecture detailed in this report has been further defined in other DSTO reports that I am currently writing but if you have any comments on this report please add comments to this blog.

Sidenote

SidenoteHere is another great little mac utility that allows you to store and quickly access notes. One the biggest problems that I have with the Apple Sticky notes is that they are all over the place and get in the way. Sidenote is much better as it stores all your notes in a nice drawer that hides itself at the side of the screen. This is one slick application and well work a try. Skip down to the download link and give it a go yourself. If you can not even wait to download the application here is a screenshot.

e-Ink Watch

Gadgets Images Seiko EpaperwatchSeiko has a new prototype watch being showed around the traps. What makes this really interesting is that it is using e-Ink's electronic paper technology, which allows for the display to wrap around the band and have a high resolution. Overall it creates one impressive looking watch.

Wireless USB

wireless_usb.jpg imageThe next wireless technology may just be this, wireless USB. Unlike a wireless USB dongle that you can purchase nowadays that uses the 802.11 B or G standards this wireless adapter supports any USB device and can transfer data at full 480Mb/s USB data speeds. Now if these devices are really possible you can see bluetooth and other wireless devices disappearing; however, this depends on both the range and power consumption required to drive such an adapted.

Hitachi Microdrive Technology Explained

Images Common InspirelogoHitachi have tried to explain how they are able to get the extremely large hard drive sizes on their new microdrives. However, there is a twist, they have done the explanation as a flash animation and a song. Funny to watch while still slightly informative.
