New Apple software and hardware

Once again Apple has released information about their new operating system and hardware. The new operating system codenamed Tiger is planned to be released in the middle of 2005. The new features in the operating system are:

• Operating System level searching functionality called Spotlight - more information
• New version of iChat AV - more information
• RSS syndication feed reader in Safari Internet Browser - more information
• New widget capability called Dashboard, this is a clone of the Konfabulator application - more information
• Automator, a new program to do batch processing of files - more infromation
• Enhanced ability to use voice and audio to control and interact with your mac called VoiceOver - more information
• New Sync capabilities, includes developer support to use the new sync services - more information
• Enhance UNIX capabilities - more information
• New version of XCode Development IDE - more information

Apple has also released a new set of LCD displays but instead of using the standard Apple ADC connectors these new monitors now using the standard DVI connector. In addition Apple is now offering the absolutely huge 30“ cinema display, please take note that this new display also requires a specific card to drive the monitor because of the high resolution it natively runs at. To top it all off the new displays are clad in aluminum like the G5 desktops.
